Six years of evidence. Now the tools to act on it.

Six years of evidence. Now the tools to act on it.

Seat at the Table has tracked who leads the UK music industry since 2020. The Boardroom Navigator turns that evidence into practical help for organisations and for the people who want to join their boards.

OUR STORY

Where Seat at the Table came from

Where Seat at the Table came from

Seat at the Table began in 2020 as a Women in CTRL research programme. It is now being established as an independent CIO.

2020

The first Seat at the Table report counts who sits on the boards of UK music trade bodies.

2024

Women hold 52% of board seats, the highest level recorded.

2026

The sixth year of data shows progress slipping back. The Governance Council forms and the Boardroom Navigator launches in response.

Next

Seat at the Table becomes an independent CIO, holding the research for public benefit.

WHAT WE DO

Turning evidence into representative boards

Turning evidence into representative boards

Measure

We publish the UK’s only longitudinal dataset tracking gender and ethnicity together at board, executive, CEO and Chair level in UK music.

Build

We give organisations a governance health check and a toolkit of induction packs, codes of conduct and structural guidance, built with sector experts.

Open

We show people the routes into board roles, with guides, campaign materials and advice from women already in the room.
